Blocktober_Jonas_Vogler
This Blockout was created for a third-person action game taking place a few days after the apocalypse started. It is meant to be a tutorial level.
Walkthrough
- In front of the City
- Character had a car crash in front of the City where he is going to meet a friend → character limps (Player should feel weak and disoriented)
- Looks around → Spots City with a Big Building/lights in the background (Character says this is where he needs to meet his friend → Player has a Goal in Mind)
- Gets guided along the street
- Meets infected on the street (eats a human to show he is dangerous→ player gets introduced to basic enemy class)
- Infected reacts to shots in the distance (subconsciously teaches the player that infected react to sound)
- Sneaks around it since he is hurt from the car crash so he cant fight it
- Finds car from friend (character is wondering wondering why he left it there)
- Finds a healing item in the car
- Uses it (character signals that he feels better)
- Gets a straight view towards the Townhall at the end of the road
- Enters the City Area
- Single infected on the street that looks towards the Area the player wants to go through → finds loose stones he can throw to distract the infected
- Main Street blocked by to many infected (players needs to be scared by the amount of infected so he tries to find another way)
- Players vision should be guided towards the parking lot on his right
- In the parking lot the player can find an open Window → he climbs through it (player should learn how to climb and how ledges that are climbable are highlighted)
- After climbing through the window he hears another shot and an infected walks out of a room on his right and faces away from the player (player should be scared since he is trapped in a small hallway with no way around the infected)
- Spots a weapon in the Hallway he can pick up
- Has to Execute him from behind (learns that he can sneak behind the infected to execute him, no cover close to the infected to make sneaking up on him more intense)
- In the Supermarket he can find a better weapon and some crafting materials
- While sneaking through the supermarket player constantly hears an infected eating someone, can be found close to the main entrance (faces away from the direction the player arrives from, shouldn’t be a threat in particular but can create an uneasy feeling for the player)
- Arrives back at the Street, the main Gate to the big Building is blocked by infected (player should feel encouraged to find another way into the Area behind the Fence)
- On the left a small park is highlighted to draw the players attention(main path), on the right there is a house that can be explored(Explorable space)
- The house on his right contains some crafting materials and a collectible on the first floor
- From there the player has a good view on the main entrance of the town hall that is blocked by to many infected and the framework on the other side of the street which looks like he can use it to climb over the fence (explorable advantage point)
- After sneaking to the framework and climbing over the fence the player gets confronted by an infected (Character learns how to fight infected head on with the weapon he picked)
- After defeating the infected the player hears a series of shots from his destination (player should feel like he is in a hurry and start running towards the entrance)
- When he runs towards the entrance, the building is at a higher position, so he has to run up the stairs and cant see whats going on inside before arriving at the door (adds more pressure while running towards the shots)
Arrives at the destination, Friend is being attacked (needs to shoot the infected)
